About me
To start with, I want to introduce myself. My name is Wim Vink, I live in Holland and I am a draughtsman and photographer. I very consciously witnessed the beginning of modeling (the fifties and the beginning of the sixties). I have been modeling ever since and I collect unbuilt model kits of American Military Models out of that period from Adams, Aurora, Monogram, Renwal and Revell. I can say I have virtually all the old kits in my collection. I especially build 1:32 kits from Renwal and Monogram. In general, these kits are rather large, often wrong and without all the details (normal for that time). However, to me that puts some “spot” back into the hobby. These kits are most exclusive models that have never been put to the 1:35 market. It is not easy to correct and detail these models. They are a great challenge -often a nightmare- but they always give me enormous satisfaction. Next to collecting unbuilt kits, I also collect U.S. Army Technical Manuals. At the moment I have 225+ TMs from World War II to present.
Passion
You could say I have a “passion” for U.S. Army Military Equipment, especially for equipment out of the fifties.
This passion began when I was eight years old. I saw the movie “The Third Man” on television and in this movie was an American Jeep with fine White Stars. Wow, completely sold!
The idea
After having more than 150 publications in European and American magazines, I thought it would be a nice idea to start a website.
The aim of this website may be clear: a website especially for the military modeler of U.S. Army Military Equipment.
